Abstract:

The Rock Hazard Rating System (RHRS) can help highway owners mitigate the risks of rock slope failure. This system helps owners determine which slopes are most hazardous and should be fixed first, and suggests how to best spend today'sand tomorrow's limited funds. In the case of litigation arising from a rock fall accident, the system can also show that the owner had a rational system in place for fixing the most hazardous rock slopes first.
