Abstract:

The year 2000 computer virus poses many potential problems for engineers. Programming designed decades ago may not recognize the date 01/01/00 as January 1, 2000. Hardware, software and even everyday technology that we often take for granted may cease to operate or malfunction on that day. Even if you've taken steps to make sure your company is bug-free, customers may not be. It's worth taking the time to check out your own systems and be patient as clients and other business partners check out theirs.
