Abstract:
The article presents a pictorial overview of the 26 nominees for the 1997 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (OCEA) awards. The projectsthe most ever to compete for the prizerepresented a broad scope of civil engineering. This year's entries included eight transportation projects, a handful of water and environmental projects, several new bridges, and, for the first time ever, an infrastructure information project. Although the scope of the projects varied, all of the nominees demonstrated good planning and management.
