Summary finding from the Engineering and Construction for Sustainable Development in the 21st Century, held in Washington, D.C., February 4-8, 1996. Sponsored by the Civil Engineering Research Foundation.

This executive report presents an international collaborative research agenda for the construction industry to advance innovation in support of sustainable development concepts. The report reviews the process leading up to the symposium; discusses the symposium dynamics; presents and assesses the symposium findings; and outlines the global research agenda advanced by the international industry, government, and academic leaders who took part in the symposium. The report also identifies follow-up actions designed to strengthen international collaborative efforts to accelerate the introduction on innovative technologies and systems through the implementation of the symposium findings and recommendations.
