Abstract:

The Netherlands are situated on the delta of three of Europe's main rivers: the Rhine, the Meuse, and the Scheldt. As a result, the country has been able to develop into an important industrial and densely populated nation. Construction, management, and maintenance of flood defenses are essential conditions for the population and further development of the country.
