Abstract:

(Asbtract only) The largest water reservoirs of Russia, such as a reservoirs cascade on Volga and Kama Rivers, are used for solution of a number of water problems including flood control. A specific feature of the Volga-Kaina cascade is a special scheme of spring flood routing, which not only should provide a protection of huge, densely populated areas from flooding, but also should satisfy a number of sometimes contradicting environmental requirements, including that on Caspian sturgeon reproduction.
