Abstract:

The EPA proposed groundwater disinfection rule for municipal wells would allow exemptions if, among other options, the necessary virus source setback distance could be maintained to provide an 11-log reduction in virus concentrations. This study revealed necessary die-off could occur by travel through just the unsaturated zone for Nebraska wells.
