Abstract:
Many older toll facilities have reached their traffic-handling capacity, blocking the efficient movement of cars onto toll facilities. The article examines problems associated with reconfiguring existing toll plazas with electronic toll collection equipment. Several methods of avoiding new construction are examined. The importance of clear signs is stressed.
