Abstract:

An equation for prediction of siltation below a closure dam in the coastal area of Bangladesh has been developed using a diffusion equation of vertical transport of sediment. Applicability of the equation has been tested by comparing with the siltation obtained from field measurement below Muhuri closure dam in the Feni estuary of the Bay of Bengal. It was revealed that with appropriate adjustment of inundation time for siltation, the equation was found to be valid there.
