Abstract:

This paper reports an application of the Prescribed Solution Forcing (PSF) and Physical Modeling (PM) to the development of a systematic procedure for the verification of three-dimensional free surface flow models. The Prescribed Solution Forcing was applied to verify the correctness of mathematical manipulations in formulating a solvable, discretizing model, algorithms and computer-program codings in obtaining solutions. The Physical Modeling in laboratories provides experimental measurements with adequate resolutions to verify the validity of computational model's capability in predicting observed physical phenomena. This combination gives a highly effective procedure for 3d free surface flow model verifications.
