Abstract:

After a description of the general equations which govern the propagation of a 2D flood wave (shallow water equations), a review of the scientific publications on the integration of their complete form is made, together with considerations on the adopted algorithms. 2D simplified models are successively considered. The aim of these models is mainly to deal with areas of complex topography; in this context a numerical model developed by ENEL-CRIS is described and its capabilities to take into account water behaviour in presence of hydraulic singularities and urban areas are presented.
