Abstract:

Electricite de France developed a new in situ measurement apparatus (Diflupress L.D.) in order to predict the delayed settlements that can appear under heavy constructions. From the experimental curves we can obtain a characteristic of the test which embodies the viscous behavior of soil. We use this characteristic to calculate the delayed settlements using an adaptation of a classical settlement calculation. This involves simplifications but gives a good approach of delayed settlement. We also perform a complete calculation with an elasto-viscoplastic model implemented in a finite element code. The results are interesting too. It appears that the results of the test with the Diflupress L.D. allow rather good predictions of the delayed settlements.
