Abstract:

This paper discusses issues required for the development of an object-oriented (OO) highway information system in a client-server environment based on the System Object Model (SOM) in OS/2. Traditionally highway engineering data are hosted in mainframes or minicomputers. There is a need to improve the quality, availability, maintainability and upgradability of the highway engineering information.
