Abstract:

This paper discusses object-oriented database management systems (OODBMS) as an alternative to traditional information management systems for developing a commercial construction industry software product. Initial development has confirmed that OODBMS is a good technical choice for a commercial product. However, we have not established data to support long-term savings in software maintenance or acceptance of the commercial software by corporate MIS departments.
