Abstract:

Recent research in numerous projects carried out at the Institute of Computational Engineering (ICE) demonstrates the capability of object-oriented database management systems (OODBMS), in particular, the excellent performance of ONTOS. This contribution in intended to evidence the potential of the OODBMS ONTOS. It is shown in detail that the definition of a persistent database class OBJECT accessible from user-defined classes facilitates software integration in a very sophisticated fashion.
