Abstract:

A GIS systems was developed for determining the best route to travel, so that the traveler will travel to a number of cities in such a way that he/she will visit each city only once and will return to the starting city. the system consists of three major components: mapping module, data bases, and modeling module. Genetic algorithm was used in the modelling module to find the optimum travel route. this natural selection approach does not guarantee the optimum solution, but most of the time it gives a reasonable solution within a short time.
