Abstract:

The objective of this paper is to discuss the developments and implementation of a hybrid system consisting of a rule-based information system and hypermedia technology for use by inspectors and engineers in bridge evaluation. BRIDGE-FIX (BRIDGE- Fatigue Inspection Expert) is a knowledge-based system intended to aid the practicing professional in fatigue inspection and evaluation of steel I-girder bridges.
