Abstract:

Four specimens of composite steel and concrete beams were experimentally tested to obtain the cyclical behavior of the welded steel shear stud. This information may be used for the analysis and design of composite steel frames and steel semi-rigid frames. Specimens were fabricated using a steel beam sandwiched between two concrete slabs. Two specimens were built with standard construction techniques. The other two were specially detailed to obtain a more ductile behavior.
