Abstract:

Failure of concrete formwork is one of the main causes of concrete construction failures. Among the main causes of formwork failure is inadequate strength. Currently there is no published data on the actual resistances and resistance variabilities of wood formworks. To obtain such data, eight concrete building projects were visited and formwork member samples were obtained for laboratory experiments. The experiments and data analysis are currently underway. This paper presents some of the experimental results on formwork joist and stringer properties.
