The Joint ASCE-ACI Committee 441 on Reinforced Concrete Columns is investigating a number of problems related to structural behavior and design of reinforced concrete columns. This paper briefly summarizes the Committee's activities that gave rise to some of the ideas presented in the session on 'Progress in Reinforced Concrete Column Design.'
