Abstract:

The bridge reported in this paper is a two-span steel tied-arch bridge supported on massive caisson foundations. Site specific seismic studies were carried out to establish the ground motion input at two levels. Spatially-varying ground motion time histories were generated. Seismic soil-structure effects were taken into account. Dynamic behavior characteristics of the tied-arch structure are identified and multiple-support-excitation seismic response analyses were carried out to identify structural vulnerabilities.
