Abstract:

Earth's fossil fuel supply is dropping quickly. A new power source must be developed to save the remaining fuel and control pollution output. Solar power satellites are large satellites in orbit with the earth or other planets. They capture solar power, a clean, plentiful power source in space. Energy is beamed down to a collector on earth that will convert the power to useable electricity. Different designs offer different prices and efficiency. Lasers, optical lenses, or microwaves offer a variety of possibilities. The development of one of these designs is the ideal source of today's power needs.
