Abstract:

This proceedings, Engineering, Construction and Operations in Space IV, consists of over 155 papers presented at Space 94, the Fourth International Conference, held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, February 26 - March 3, 1994. The papers are divided into the various sessions that occurred at the conference: 1) Mechanics of Space Structures, 2) Extraterrestrial Mission, 3) Orbital Mission, and 4) Specialty Track. Mechanics papers cover topics of the dynamics and control, response of composites, nonlinear response, integrity, design, thermomechanical response, and impact loads on space structures. Extraterrestrial Mission reports on lunar soil, concrete, oxygen and manufacturing, and lunar and Mars basing and construction. The Orbital Mission section includes topics on space station and space facilities, mission to earth and communications, access to space and space ports, space environment, space power, and solar power satellite technology. Under the Specialty area, papers cover asteroid hazards, high school student papers, spacebased astronomy, space policy, education, and human factors.
