by William R. Claycomb, Sandia Natl Lab, Albuquerque, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Engineering, Construction, and Operations in Space IV

Abstract:

Interstellar travel is certainly one of mankind's next step to reach for the stars. Four ideas for interstellar propulsion are discussed in this paper: the Orion Project, Deep Space Ramjets, Antimatter propulsion, and Solar Sailing. Also discussed are the effects of short-range and long-range interstellar missions on the ship's crew.
