Abstract:

The macromechanical analysis of a composite panel with laminate facings and a honeycomb core is carried out by taking into account mechanical and hygrothermal loads. In this analysis the cores are considered to provide negligible lateral stiffness while offering significant transverse stiffness. The facings considered are composite laminate construction in which the laminae are stacked symmetrically with respect to the mid-plane of each respective plane. The displacements of the facings and core are assumed to be unequal. The general governing equations for the plate are obtained in terms of lateral deflection and mid-plane displacement.
