Abstract:

A damage model is summarized for the assessment of seismic damage of reinforced concrete structures. The model is to evaluate specific buildings that were damaged in Mexico City during the 1985 earthquake; the results were used to examine the benefits that would have been possible through the proper application of control technology, in terms of enhanced levels of safety and damage prevention, as well as cost-effectiveness.
