Abstract:

To make their respective geographic information systems (GIS) software packages more useful to the user community, the GIS software vendors have steady added various database translators to import and export databases translators to import and export databases from their proprietary database structures. A better solution should be that all the vendors support the emerging Spatial data transfer standard (SDTS). In doing so, the user community will be blessed with having to deal with only one set of data exchange standards.
