Abstract:

A computer-based Bridge Management System, BMS, was designed in Finland by the Finnish National Road Administration (FinnRA) to assist in high level bridge policy, long-term planning and programming of investments. The system applies probabilistic bridge deterioration models to find a condition distribution of the bridges that minimizes maintenance and rehabilitation costs for the existing bridge stock.
