Abstract:

Scour evaluations were performed for large numbers of bridges in two separate studies in New York and New Jersey. The two studies used different screening methods for identifying high-priority bridges; the New York bridges were then subjected to detailed studies. In this paper, the two methods are evaluated by applying the New Jersey method to the New York bridges, and then comparing the rankings with the scour-critical determinations.
