Abstract:

Interference by man has affected the natural Dutch dune area seriously. The harmful effects of drinking water supply activities include low groundwater tables in the valleys, unnatural lakes, and dug canals. Specific measures and nature rehabilitation projects, however, can restore the ecological values to some extent, in such way that both the water supply function and the natural values of the area can be preserved.
