Quality Control in Evaluating Scour at Bridges
by Edward J. Kent, Whitman & Howard, Inc, Concord, United States,Document Type: Proceeding Paper
Part of: Hydraulic Engineering
Abstract:
Quality control procedures currently in use for conducting statewide bridge scour screening and evaluation studies are described. The procedures address bridge scour screening and calculation of potential scour depths using hydraulic models and bridge scour equations. Quality control components include project scoping and staffing, bridge plan and soil borings review, use of computer databases, standardized office and field checklists, hydraulic model output tables, staff rotation, and reality checks of calculated scour depths.
