Computational Modeling of Sedimentation Processes
byCommittee on Computer Modeling, ASCE
Document Type: Proceeding Paper
Part of: Hydraulic Engineering
Abstract:
The Committee on Computer modeling is a part of the task force on updating ASCE Manual 54, `Sedimentation Engineering.' The task will require a new chapter since computer modeling has evolved since the manual was published. The Committee has completed an expanded outline, and is seeking feedback from colleagues before initiating the writing task. The following major sections are proposed: The need for computer modeling, the governing equations, the selection of a model, a comparison between computational modeling and physical modeling, data types and resolution, model confirmation-verification, the base test, plan tests, interpretation of results and examples to illustrate model selection and application.
