Abstract:

The study examined several works about extreme droughts for their validity with different parameters by the statistical experimental method. The results showed that the analytical method (Sen, 1980 Guven, 1981) has better performance than the semiempirical method (Guven, 1983). These methods were also applied to Cao-ping river at south Taiwan to investigate its cumulative probability distributions of the longest drought duration and the maximum deficit sum.
