Abstract:

The settling velocities values of shelly sediment considerably differ from ones of the same particles of terrigeneous material and for this reason character and intensity of hydrodynamic factors influence upon the bottom the beach surfaces are different. Unbroken shells, its fragments and shell detritus most probably form the surface that is steady against wave attacks under conditions of weak and even moderate wave regimes. However, such specificity don't reveals under conditions of heavy and prolonged wave regimes. General scheme of differentiation of shelly sediment by size in the wave and current action area is conditioned not only by general sedimentary depositional environments dynamics and by location of the mollusks biocenosises too.
