Abstract:

The Port of Oakland has instituted a number of measures to improve environmental practices of tenants operating on Port-owned land and facilities. These measures, which include lease provisions, education and training of tenants, site audits, and others, are helping the Port of Oakland to minimize environmental contamination and reduce its liability. Similar measures will assist any large municipal or private landowner in reducing environmental contamination and liabilities.
