Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Coastal Zone '93

Abstract:

This paper describes two estuary management studies undertaken in south-west England during 1991-92. Despite there being many differences between the studies in terms of why they were undertaken, the investigations identified many similar management requirements. Communication, both between and within groups of users and/or managing agencies, was found to be essential for effective management. So too was coordination. Integration is also vital if the estuarine resource is to be managed sustainably, to the benefit of all users.
