Abstract:

Why should concurrent engineering concepts and TQM (Total Quality Management) procedures be considered for large scale HSGT (High Speed Ground Transportation) engineering and planning projects? Quality and productivity concerns are no longer confined to the manufacturing sector and Japan but have poured over into the infrastructure arena and are global in nature. Concurrent project development and teaming using the tools of TQM offer a viable alternative to traditional engineering planning processes for large scale HSGT projects in a competitive fashion.
