Abstract:

The experience of the California-Nevada Superspeed Train is chronicled from its inception in 1970 to the present. The evolution of the route alignment and technology selection are presented, as well as the changes in estimated ridership and costs. Plans for future activity are discussed in view of recent events which have interrupted progress toward implementation.
