Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the issues involved in incorporating new technology, specifically electronic toll collection into a large, long-term construction project. The paper addresses the uncertainties encountered in implementing new technology, and provides suggestions on how these problems can be solved. The paper uses as a case study one of the largest construction projects in the U.S., the Central Artery/Tunnel (CA/T) Project in Boston.
