Abstract:

Before transportation professionals promote (Geographic Information System) GIS as the answer to infrastructure management, more debate is required. Current GIS packages do not have the analytical models to prioritize projects within the resource constraints. Issues regarding interfacing GIS with other infrastructure management systems must be addressed. This paper discusses these issues.
