Abstract:

Recent events have focused national attention on the need for States to implement a managed program to determine the scour vulnerability of each of its bridges. Since 85% of all bridges nationwide are over waterways; the sheer number of bridges to be evaluated can seem to represent a daunting task. This paper is presented to illustrate the measured yet comprehensive response, taken by the State of Colorado.
