Abstract:
Good decisions are dependant on, but not guaranteed by, decision-makers having access to the right kind and format of information. However, some of today's infrastructure and management decisions are based on rather incomplete information. In other words, even though the implementation of GIS technology has greatly improved capabilities for multiple analyses, much of the more aesthetically based or visual information remains excluded. We propose that the introduction of a hypermedia-based system into the transportation planning scenario can enhance the capabilities already available through GIS technology, While at the same time, facilitate infrastructure planning and management decisions.
