Abstract:

This paper will discuss the methods of assistance to contractors in visualizing the effects of variations in the quantities of their work and how to obtain such information effectively. Normally progress payments are based on the quantities of work accomplished on various phases within an ongoing project. Some of the items can be difficult to reasonably quantify within a very short time. The proposed methodology applies a statistical approach to obtain the amount of work completed. The object-oriented programming of HyperCard tool makes interacting databases available for users. The object-oriented HyperCard programming could assist construction managers to control cost effectively. The programming functions can be an automatic updating database that would give a quick response to the accounts that are important for mangers to track with. This paper demonstrates the suitability of HyperCard in the construction industry. The interactive functions of HyperCard have given the construction industry a new approach in the implementation of projects more effectively.
