Abstract:

Joint work in progress by John A. Martin and Associates and International Conference of Building Officials to develop an electronic building code information system is presented. This product, tentatively titled 'The Building Code Desktop For Engineers,' is scheduled for release towards the end of 1993. It will embody, the so-called engineering chapters of the Uniform Building Code (Chapters 23 to 30), many important chapters and sections of the Uniform Building Code Standards, and Uniform Building Code for Building Conservation. The entire text, sections, and subsections of code provisions will be fully indexed and hyper-linked. In addition, the supporting articles and documents, which the code provisions are based on will be available on line for examination.
