Abstract:

According to its Statute, one of the main goals of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is to accelerate and enlarge the contribution of Atomic Agency to peace, health and prosperity throughout the world. The Nuclear Material and Fuel Cycle Section / Division of Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Waste Management is engaged in tasks concerning the management of spent fuel from the nuclear power plants and research reactors. An account is given of the IAEA programmes and recent publications.
