Abstract:

The paper reports one of the activities carried out in the framework of a so called `certified assessment of safety' program activated by ENEL SpA - Italian National Electric Board - in the last decade. The paper discusses first the rationale of the `certified assessment'. A detailed discussion of the activities carried out for the Zoccolo dam certification is then presented with the intent of illustrating the concept in practice.
