Abstract:

Methods for probabilistic stability analyses of concrete monoliths at hydraulic structures were developed and tested. Numerous analyses were performed using data from six actual structures considering a variety of loading conditions, performance functions, parameter assumptions and probabilistic models. The developed methods are suitable for ranking existing structures for rehabilitation investment decisions. The selected measure, the reliability index ?, reflects both the problem mechanics and degree of certainty or uncertainty in the underlying variables.
