Construction of Shotcrete Linings Channel Tunnel

by A. G. Myers, Transmanche Link JV,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Shotcrete for Underground Support V

Abstract:

Without the use of shotcrete and the flexibility it offers in terms of tunnel profile, economy and speed of tunnelling, the project would certainly not be as far advanced as it is at present. All the people associated with the NATM works on the Channel Tunnel have gained tremendous practical experience of its useage, application and potential. Undoubtedly tunnelling using similar methods will become more widespread in the UK because of its success.
