Part of: Materials: Performance and Prevention of Deficiencies and Failures

Abstract:

Data which demonstrate the beneficial effect of using fine aggregate having high fines contents on concrete properties are presented. All data indicate that the use of a high fines content (5 to 10 per cent minus No. 200 mesh) manufactured sand reduces the void content of the combined aggregate system with one of the most economical materials available , and improves the workability, finishability, and strength of the resulting mixture. In addition, bleeding of the concrete is reduced.
