Abstract:

This proceedings, Materials: Performance and Prevention of Deficiencies and Failures, contains papers presented at the 1992 Materials Engineering Congress, held in Atlanta, Georgia, August 10-12, 1992. The proceedings consists of fifteen sections of which the first 10 discuss causes concerned with the performance and prevention of deficiencies and failures while the last 5 concentrate on the application and performance of composite materials and structural plastics in civil engineering construction. Joint sealants, asphalt mixtures, concrete, wood, recycled plastics and composites are just some of the materials discussed. Case studies of the use of these various materials include pavements, buildings, and bridges. In addition, many of the papers involve solutions for problems associated with infrastructure rehabilitation while others present applications of new test methods.
